FANM Applauds reintroduction of the Dream Act and Secure Act

The Dream Act and Secure Act will give permanent protections for recipients of TPS, DED, and those eligible for DACA

Today, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) reintroduced the DREAM Act and SECURE Act to provide a pathway to citizenship for Temporary Protected Status, Deferred Enforced Departure and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients. Marleine Bastien, Executive Director of Family Action Network Movement (FANM) issued the following statement:

FANM applauds Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for reintroducing the bipartisan DREAM Act of 2019, and Sens. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) for reintroducing the SECURE Act. These bills are a great step toward finding a permanent solution for these deserving families. They will trailblaze a path to permanent residency for thousands of TPS, DACA and DED recipients. FANM is committed to the passage of these bills into law. The Dream Act and Secure Act will give TPS, DACA and DED recipients a safe haven in the U.S. where they have established their lives by contributing to our economy and our communities.

FANM's mission is to empower low to moderate income families socially, financially, and politically and to give them the tools to transform their communities.
